The 36th International PigeonMarket & DBA 2025 in Kassel will take place – unfortunately without pigeons
It is with great regret that we must inform you that the 36th International Pigeon Market & DBA 2025 will have to take place without pigeons this year. The increasing number of outbreaks of avian influenza, including in the immediate vicinity of the exhibition grounds, unfortunately make it impossible to hold the event with pigeons this year. Over the past few weeks, we have worked closely with the veterinary office to find solutions that would allow us to hold the event as usual. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to all exhibitors and breeders who have supported us in implementing our concept and fulfilling the requirements of the veterinary office. Ultimately, however, safety comes first – this includes the safety of our animals and compliance with animal health regulations. Against this background, we had no choice but to decide against the presence of pigeons.
Nevertheless, we have good news! We will not be cancelling the fair! The 36th International Pigeon Market will take place! The evening events, auctions and award ceremonies will also take place as planned! The International Pigeon Market is not just about pigeons: this weekend is all about people coming together, and we want to continue celebrating that!
We invite you to a weekend full of encounters between old and new friends, to chat, celebrate and socialise! The International Breeders’ Meeting on Friday and the gala evening on Saturday offer the perfect setting for this, and tickets are still available! On Saturday evening, food and drinks are even included in the admission price! So join us as we honour our winners in our usual grand style.
Of course, the exhibition days also offer plenty of time and space for technical discussions among breeders and, of course, with our industry exhibitors: they are still there for you and look forward to your visit.
The planned auctions will also take place! The pigeons will not be on site, but you will have the opportunity to select your favourites in advance in the pre-auctions before they finally go under the hammer in the hall auctions. Fun and excitement are therefore still guaranteed.
Nevertheless, we are all aware of the seriousness of the situation: during the weekend, absolutely no pigeons may be brought onto the exhibition grounds or car parks of Messe Kassel. Our security staff and the veterinary office will carry out random checks to ensure that the instructions are being followed, and we would like to emphasise that the veterinary office is authorised to take legal action in the event of violations: This may mean that the animals are confiscated and placed in quarantine at the breeder’s expense. It may not be limited to a simple expulsion, which, incidentally, may also be accompanied by fines.
We therefore appeal to your willingness to cooperate on this point and urge each individual breeder to respect and accept the orders of the veterinary office. This is the only way to ensure good cooperation in the future. We thank you in advance for your cooperation!
Together with you, we would still like to look forward to the 36th International Pigeon Market & DBA. We are firmly convinced that we will have an exciting and enjoyable weekend together and that we can make the most of our event.
And together we can look forward with confidence to next year, when the 37th International Pigeon Market & DBA 2026 will be able to take place with pigeons again!
